Day 1: Vilnius
Arrive in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania. Check into the hotel. Afternoon of leisure to explore Vilnius on your own.
Day 2: Vilnius
After breakfast, a morning sightseeing tour of Vilnius including visits to the medieval as well as the modern sections of the city. See the grand Cathedral of Peter and Paul, the small church of St Anna - a gem of Gothic architecture - as well as the ruins of the Upper and Lower Castle. In the afternoon, a sightseeing tour to Trakai, the former capital of Lithuania, which is situated on an island in the middle of a lake. The 14th century red brick castle now houses the Art Museum. Day 3: Vilnius - Riga
After breakfast, departure by coach for Riga. En route, visit the splendid 18th century Rundale Palace - the former residence of the Duke of Kurland. (B)
Day 4: Riga
This morning, a city tour of Riga, with the delightful Old Town, the colourfully restored merchants' residences, the cosy beer cellars and cafe's, historical monuments like the Dome Cathedral, St Peter's Church, and the Gun Powder Tower. See the masterpieces of early 20th century Art Nouveau architecture. Afternoon at leisure. Optional evening tour - Midsummer Night Celebration. (B)
Day 5: Riga
Breakfast at hotel. Optional tour to Sigulda. This town is often called the "Latvia Switzerland" because of the beauty of its landscape. The 13th century Knight's Castle, the mysterious Gutmana Cave linked to a romantic medieval love legend. (B)
Day 6: Riga - Tallinn
After breakfast, departure by coach to Tallinn. En route, visiting Ethnographical Open Air Museum on the outskirts of Riga to see traditional Latvian rural buildings dating back to the 17th century and the Baltic Sea Coast. Stopping also for a sightseeing tour of an Estonian town - Parnu. (B)
Day 7: Tallinn
After breakfast, a city tour of Tallinn, visiting the mediaeval Upper and Lower town, song festival grounds and Pirita. Afternoon at leisure. (B)
Day 8: Tallinn
After breakfast, departure for home.
