The airport is 13km from the city.

Currency

The currency is the Czech Koruna. Currency may be exchanged at banks or Exchange offices. Credit cards are accepted at most hotels.

Electricity

Voltage is 220 AC. Use round 2-pin plugs. Travellers from countries with different systems should bring adaptors with them, as they are practically impossible to obtain in Prague.

Health

In the case of a true emergency, call an ambulance by dialing 155. If an ambulance is not required but hospital care is needed, the person should be taken to Na Homolce Hospital in Prague 5. The clinic will be able to provide a doctor who can speak English. Medical facilities are available but may be limited, particularly in remote areas.

Telephones

International telephone calls can be made via an operator or direct dial. Calls may be made from public phone booths, which are card- or coin-operated. Cards may be purchased from Post Offices and most news-stands.

Tipping

Tip the staff in bars, restaurants, etc. It is customary to leave a 5-10% tip.

Visa

A visa is required, which is issued free for Australian passport holders.

Brno

The second largest city, with four hundred thousand inhabitants. It is known for its trade fairs and exhibitions. The city hosts motor vehicle and motocycle competitions each year. There are many historical sites and monuments throughout the city. It is the industrial heart of the region of Moravia.
